How to Make Homemade Chocolate Cherry Fudge from Scratch

This recipe strikes a balance between simplicity and flavor. Many “quick” fudge recipes out there just don’t produce an authentic flavor and texture.
But this recipe does give you the flavor and consistency you want without requiring you spend a ton of time in the kitchen.
Prep time is right around twenty minutes and then you just need to let your fudge set before cutting and serving.
All you need is a heat resistant mixing bowl (I use metal), a 13×9 pan, and a saucepan. And that’s all you need to make this amazing fudge recipe.

It never ceases to amaze me how much flavor you can get from so few ingredients. This recipe only needs a handful of easy to find ingredients, making it quite affordable as well.
Ingredient List
- Chocolate Chips
- Maraschino Cherries
- Marshmallow Fluff
- Butter
- Evaporated Milk
- Granulated Sugar
- Chopped Nuts (optional)
Chocolate Chips: You have options when selecting your chocolate chips. I usually use semi-sweet, but milk chocolate, dark chocolate, bittersweet, or even white chocolate chips. You can also use a mixture, experiment to see what your favorite flavor combination is.
Cherries: Jarred maraschino cherries is the type to use for your fudge. They provide the flavor and work perfect for making fudge.
Marshmallow Fluff: Your marshmallow fluff should be at room temperature when adding to your hot mixture.
Nuts: While optional, chopped pecans or walnuts are a great way to add texture and an earthy flavor to your fudge. They both pair wonderfully with chocolate and cherry.
Another fun option: Almond cherry fudge
Easy to Follow Instructions

Because you will be pouring your hot mixture into your mixing bowl, it’s important to use one that can handle heat. I use my medium metal mixing bowl and recommend you do the same.
Step 1: Add marshmallow fluff, chocolate chips and butter to mixing bowl and set aside so it can reach room temperature.
Step 2: In saucepan, add granulated sugar and milk. Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat while stirring constantly.
Step 3: Continue to stir while boiling for 8 minutes.
Step 4: Pour hot mixture over chocolate chip mixture. Stir until stiff.
Step 5: Stir in cherries (and nuts if desired).
Step 6: Pour into baking pan and set aside until your fudge sets.
Step 7: Cut into squares, serve and enjoy!
