Cherries: You want to use pitted, sour cherries. The tartness pairs so well with the sweet for a wonderful final flavor. You will drain your cherries, and reserve the juice for your sauce.

Lemon Juice: This adds a bit more acidity to our sauce, which really makes all those great flavors pop! Don’t skip the lemon juice.

Almond Extract: This adds a subtle nuttiness to our sauce that works incredibly well with cherries. You can opt for almond flavoring for a more affordable option.
