Smooth and delicious chocolate mint pie perfect for any time of year. This pie is packed with flavor and the chocolate and mint go together perfectly.
This is far and away my family’s favorite chocolate mint pie recipe. By using bakers chocolate and peppermint extract paired with a graham cracker crust, the flavor is incredibly good.
Now I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of combining chocolate and mint, but this recipe is so tasty that I enjoy it right along with the rest of the family.
So if you like chocolate and mint, then this is sure to be one of your new favorite recipes.

Not only does a graham cracker crust taste amazing, it means you can use a premade crust making this recipe even easier to make.

How to Make a Homemade Mint Chocolate Pie from Scratch

If you love a light and creamy texture then this pie is going to be right up your alley! The smooth and creamy chocolate base paired with a mint whipped cream topping produces a magical texture.
And the only thing better than the texture is the flavor. It’s bursting with chocolate and peppermint for an out of this world flavor experience.
This pie is a huge hit every time I make, and even those who aren’t a big fan of mint combined with chocolate (like me) enjoy this bright and sweet flavored pie.
Prep time is only around ten minutes, but you do need to chill it for several hours. I’ve found that making it one day ahead of time is best. It allows your pie to fully set, but a minimum of twelve hours should be allotted.

Recipe Ingredients

Making pies from scratch doesn’t have to be difficult. And while this recipe has a couple more steps than others you can find, the flavor is so incredible that it’s well worth the extra effort.
Ingredient List
- Bakers Chocolate
- Peppermint Extract
- Heavy Cream
- Butter
- Powdered Sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla Extract
- Graham Cracker Crust
Baker’s Chocolate: I’ve experimented with different versions of chocolate and unsweetened baker’s chocolate provides the best flavor, hands down. The flavor and texture are perfect so I do not recommend using a chocolate substitute.
Peppermint Extract: This provides our pie with an amazing mint flavor. It is used in both the pie filling as well as the whipped cream topping. This ensures every bite has the perfect amount of mint.
Graham Cracker Crust: I almost always use a premade graham cracker crust. The flavor is great and no baking needed. You can opt for a homemade crust if you want though.
Heavy Cream: I prefer homemade whipped cream for topping my chocolate mint pie. The texture can’t be beat and it’s easier to incorporate mint in the whipped cream than premade whipped topping such as Cool Whip.
Since this recipe uses uncooked eggs, make sure to follow all FDA food safety guidelines.
