Perfect morning scone with a delightful blend of coffee, cinnamon and sugar. Simple and quick recipe that is delicious year round.
I’ve been enjoying these coffee infused scones since I was a young girl. My aunt baked a very similar version in her shop and it was one of our favorite Saturday morning treats.
My boys happen to love them as well, and my husband may well like them most of all, so we bake these regularly.
The flavors combine so well and the coffee scone is truly the perfect way to flavor a scone in my opinion.
Top it all off with a cinnamon sugar glaze and you have one amazing breakfast scone.

- 1 1/4 Cup Confectioners Sugar
To make your scones start by lining a cookie sheet with parchment paper and preheating your oven to 425 degrees.
Add all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt to a large mixing bowl and whisk together by hand.
Add butter and blend it together by hand until only small chunks of butter remain unblended.
In a separate bowl combine instant coffee, buttermilk, and pure vanilla extract. Stir by hand until well mixed.
Create a depression in the middle of your dry mixture and pour in a cup of buttermilk. Stir until well mixed and slowly add remaining buttermilk while stirring until combined.
Dust your working area with flour and pat down your dough in a circular motion until it is about an inch thick.
Cut out scone shaped triangles from your dough. Put each scone on your cookie sheet in a single layer.
Bake until scones have turned light brown. Bake time varies but should be around fourteen minutes.
Remove scones from oven and allow to cool while you prepare your cinnamon sugar glaze.
Prepare Your Glaze
Add your cinnamon and confectioners sugar to a mixing bowl. While stirring, slowly add your heavy cream. Hand whisk until creamy and consistent.
Once done, drizzle your glaze over your scones and serve and enjoy!
