Simple and delicious chocolate frosted baked donuts without yeast! Perfect for breakfast and road trips.
It’s no secret my husband and I have a soft spot for donuts and I am always looking for new ways to make tasty doughnuts without making a huge mess or spending all day making them.
And this no yeast baked donut fits the bill! I top them off with a homemade chocolate ganache frosting. But you can use a premade frosting, glaze, powdered sugar or just plain. They taste amazing no matter how you finish them.
This recipe is perfect for the newbie donut maker too because it’s super easy. They have become a bit of a road trip tradition in my home. I will made a batch and take them when we head out to go on a family camping trip.
Add a cup of coffee and you have a wickedly tasty sweet breakfast on the go.
How To Bake No Yeast Donuts

The homemade chocolate frosting is ridiculously good! It is my thick ganache recipe and it goes perfectly with baked donuts. If you want to go with a different style of frosting or topping that’s completely cool. These donuts work with all your favorite toppers.
Prep and bake time comes in under fifteen minutes and this recipe yields a half dozen. Feel free to double the batch though, it works just as well. Just don’t forget to make extra frosting too.
Donut Ingredients
- 3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 3/4 Cup Buttermilk
- 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tsp. Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. Ground Nutmeg
- 2 Large Eggs
- 2 tbs. Unsalted Butter
- 1 tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp. Salt
Chocolate Frosting Ingredients
- 2 Cups Heavy Cream
- 2 Cups Semi-sweet Chocolate Chunks
You will prepare your frosting first so chop your chocolate chunks and place them in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
In a saucepan bring your heavy cream to a boil and immediately remove from heat and pour into your chopped chocolate.
Let stand for about two minutes. Your chocolate will begin to melt. Whisk by hand until blended and creamy.
Chill your frosting in the refrigerator until ready to top donuts.
Now it’s time to make your donuts!
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and spray your donut pan.
Add your dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir. Set aside.
In a separate mixing bowl add your wet ingredients and mix until completely blended.
Pour your wet mixture into your dry while stirring. Continue stirring until well combined.
Fill each compartment of your doughnut pan three quarters full of dough.
Bake for 12-16. Your donuts are done when you can poke them and they bounce back to shape.
Remove from pan and allow to slightly cool.
Take out your frosting and frost each donut. Serve and enjoy!
