These creamy cake mix whoopie pies are so delicious and quite easy to make. The cake sandwich soft and delicate and they are filled with a succulent buttercream filling.
I make these all the time for parties and bake sales because they are always a crowd favorite. And one of my guilty pleasures on occasion with my morning coffee.
They are incredibly smooth when made with this recipe and clean up is a snap.

How To Make Cake Mix Whoopie Pie At Home

I promise these whoopie pies are really easy to make. And you can use so many cake mix and pudding combinations the versions you can make are almost endless.
All you need is a mixing bowl, mixer, large cookie sheet and parchment paper.
Cake Mix Whoopie Pie Ingredients
- Box Of Cake Mix
- Box Of Pudding Mix
- Vegetable Oil
- 1 Large Egg
- Salted Butter
- Powdered Sugar
- Marshmallow Fluff
- Vanilla Extract
Line your baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Combine 2/3 cups water, cake mix, pudding mix, eggs and oil in large mixing bowl. Stir until combined and then mix until well blended.

Scoop two tablespoons of dough per cookie onto your parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Leave about two inches of space between cookies.
Bake for ten to thirteen minutes and remove from oven.
Begin preparing your filling while your cookies cool on a wire rack.
Take your softened butter and and mix until creamy and smooth. Slowly add in your powdered sugar while mixing and then add your vanilla extract. Mix until creamy.
By hand, stir in your marshmallow fluff and then set in refrigerator for about ten minutes.
To put your whoopie pies together start by laying your cookies down, flat side up. Scoop or use a piping bag to add cream to half of your cookies.
Place another cookie on the cream and now you have an amazing homemade whoopie pie!
What Type Of Cake Mix And Pudding To Use

The best part of making this whoopie pie recipe is you can use any cake mix and pudding combo you want.
I usually make a classic chocolate or devils food cake mix with a vanilla pudding mix.
You can use lemon cake mix and cherry pudding, or carrot cake and tapioca pudding. You can honestly make any combination you want. My kids love a funfetti cake mix with chocolate pudding! (my favorite is pumpkin cake mix with caramel pudding)

- 1 15.25 oz Cake Mix
- 1 3.4 oz Pudding Mix
- ½ Cup Vegetable Oil
- 3 Large Eggs
- ⅔ Cup Water
Filling Ingredients
- 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 Cup Marshmallow Fluff
- ¾ Cup Salted Butter

Cookies

Putting It All Together
- Place cooled cookies flat side down.
- Using a spoon or piping bag add cream to half of your cookies.
- Top each with another half of cookie.
- Serve and enjoy!
